Descripció
Popularly known as the “plaça de ses Palmeres”, it has had different names: plaça de l’Abeurador, dels Rossells and, from 1938, the current name of plaça d’Espanya.

This square has been the subject of many reforms. On this esplanade, since the 15th century, there were some troughs and washing basins that received water from the Fountain, which were reformed at the end of the 18th century. These troughs were taken and returned on two occasions, the last in 1894, until in 1940 they were definitively demolished. That year the square was adorned with gardens and palm trees were planted. In 1954, the monument to the Immaculate was erected to commemorate the centenary of the dogmatic definition.

The buildings that surround the square, and which can be seen today, respond to a regionalist style where historicism and localism are mixed. They maintain the presence of a distinct upper floor that follows the model of traditional porches.
