Descripció
The current parish church of Sant Miquel, built between the 16th and 17th centuries, is located at the top of a majestic staircase that starts from the Plaça de Sa Font de Santa Margalida. Since the 13th century, there were already several Christian buildings in honor of Santa Maria, but in 1376 it was dedicated to Sant Miquel. The current church began to be built in 1551, directed by the Mallorcan architects Antoni and Jordi Genovard, following the Catalan Gothic model of a single nave with side chapels and a ribbed vault. The facade, completed in 1591, follows the Gothic style with a central rose window and a Renaissance main portal designed by Miquel Quetgles. The baroque decoration of the crowning dates from 1746. The Roser Chapel, one of the most outstanding, was built between 1727 and 1730.
Sa Pagesa
The sculpture of Sa Pagesa, located on Nuno Sanç Street, is a fountain representing a peasant woman in traditional Mallorcan clothing. It was originally located on Passeig Ramon Llull and symbolizes Mallorcan history and culture.
Sa Quartera
The portal of Sa Quartera, next to Sa Pagesa, comes from the old building built between 1840 and 1844. It is an example of classicist architecture with Doric pilasters and a triangular pediment, the work of Llorenç Rovira, and incorporates the Felanitx coat of arms in bas-relief.
