Descripció
Work on the Felanitx cemetery began in 1814 and, until today, several extensions have been made. The second expansion carried out in 1930 stands out, with the construction of the entrance or main facade of the cemetery in modernist style, the work of the architect Francesc Roca i Simó.
In 1969, the religious congregation Germans Fossers de la Misericordia was established, a community that was responsible for the maintenance and conservation of cemeteries. The gravediggers gave great dignity to the burials and all the outbuildings, tombs and gardens. It is a remarkable fact, since the Felanitx cemetery was the only one among all the cemeteries in Mallorca where this congregation decided to settle. The Fosser brothers left in 1999 for lack of vocations.
