Fundació Cosme Bauçà Museum Collection

The Fundació Cosme Bauçà Museogràfica Collection arises from the will of Mn. Cosme Bauçà (1871-1959) to turn his manor house (called Es Molí d'en Bo) into a museum and a library that would disseminate the history and culture of Felanitx in particular and Mallorca in general. For this reason, in the same year of his death, he bequeathed his house and a large part of his property (art pieces, books and manuscripts) to the village of Felanitx so that his initiative would become a reality.

The main collection of his Foundation is that of ethnography, which contains a sample of kitchen utensils, pieces related to the field of agriculture and tools and instruments of different trades. In addition, a small collection of numismatics and the prehistoric section, which has the collections of Miquel Bordoy and Andreu Vidal, should be highlighted. His exhibition is completed with a collection of singularities from all over the world, mostly made of ivory and worked very carefully. You can discover everything from African sculptures, to small figures of Hindu gods, Japanese Netsukes and even figures that are part of the traditional Mallorcan nativity scene.

For its part, the library contains manuscripts and books about Felanitx and Mallorca, which add up to a total of 5.5.26 cataloged works; in addition, various collections of local and foreign press can be consulted.
